With the help from members of Parliament-Funkadelic and produced by Hazel and George Clinton, Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs would prove to be the incendiary guitarists' only solo release during his lifetime. Eddie was an original member of Funkadelic when that group began its life in the late 60's and Maggot Brain was propelled by his amazing guitar wares and has been singled out as an important reference for many lead guitar players and musicians over the years. Within this record, the covers of California Dreamin' and I Want You(She's So Heavy),  stamp out their own funkadelic interpretations and are quite amazing to listen to when comparing the original versions done by the Mamas and the Papas and the Beatles, respectively. So Goes the Story is an acrobatic workout for Hazel and shows off his guitar prowess to the hilt. What About It? has 2nd lead guitarist Michael Hampton(whom had replaced Eddie during the interim of 1976 due to incarceration) trading off licks with Eddie and is another guitarist's delight.

Frantic Moment features the Brides of Funkenstein and Parliament back-up singers Lynn Mabry and Dawn Silva, most prominently on a laid back funky R&B tune that is quite melodic and catchy. Gary Shider gets in on some action with Eddie on the track Physical Love which also shows off Gary's talents on the fretboard. For want of a better statement on this release, its primarily rooted within the elements of the jam in funk, R&B and classic rock riffs. Naturally,  being labeled as an Eddie Hazel solo record it's really just as much of a Funkadelic album among the members being included and succeeds on the merits of those musicians involved as well as the songs crafted. If you're a fan of P-Funk or a guitar player or just a fan of good time, groovin', funky music, Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs might just be your aural remedy.
